An overview of the Liquids HCA Tools toolbox
The Liquids HCA Tools toolbox contains the low-level tools that are used to perform release plume simulations (on land and in water) and determine which portions of the liquids pipeline could affect high consequence areas (HCAs). These tools incorporate well understood and documented mathematical models for overland flow/gravity spread and hydrographic transport analysis and provide a quantitative means for evaluating the fate of released products in common terrestrial settings. The Liquids HCA Tools toolbox also provides Licensing utility tools that you use to request and register a license for the software.
The Liquids HCA Tool toolbox has seven toolsets:
Tool | Description |
Could Affect Segments | The Could Affect Segments toolset contains the tools that allow you to determine “could affect” segments (i.e., which portions of the liquids pipeline could affect HCAs). |
HCA Intersections | The HCA Intersections toolset contains the tools that allow you to calculate Land Spill HCA Intersections, National Hydrography Data (NHD) intersections, and Hydro Trace HCA Intersections. |
Hydro Trace | The Hydro Trace toolset contains the tools that allow you to download NHD data and perform hydrographic transport analysis for release plumes that intersect waterways or waterbodies. |
Land Spill Azure | The Land Spill Azure toolset contains the tools that allow you to launch Land Spill GeoClaw overland flow simulations on Microsoft Azure® and download simulation results. |
License | The License toolset contains utility tools that allow you to request, and then register, your license for the Liquids HCA Tool software, as well as check on the availability of processing tokens. |
Prepare | The Prepare toolset contains the tools that allows you to initialize a project geodatabase for storing and processing input and output data throughout the Liquids HCA workflow, capture global input data parameters, create hypothetical release locations, and calculate drain down volumes on the release locations. |
