(Warrenville, IL) EN Engineering has announced two new appointments to its executive team. Eric Spiegel has been appointed Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Barry Nicholls has been named President. Spiegel formerly served as a Board Member and as a Special Advisor to General Atlantic, the majority stakeholder in EN Engineering and a leading global growth equity firm. Nicholls previously served as a Board Member and Vice Chairman of the EN Engineering Board of Directors.

Spiegel has spent his entire career in the energy industry providing management consulting in the utility and gas sectors. From 2010 to 2016, he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer at Siemens USA, one of the world’s largest producers of energy-efficient, highly-engineered technologies. Under his leadership, the U.S. business became the company’s most successful. Prior to his tenure at Siemens, he spent 25 years at Booz & Company, Inc. and Booz Allen Hamilton, Inc., as a global consultant in the Power, Oil and Gas, Chemicals, Water, Retail, Pharmaceuticals, and Automotive markets. Most recently, he served as Managing Partner of the Global Energy, Chemicals, and Power consulting practices, where he also led the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. He earned an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, where he was an Edward Tuck Scholar, and an A.B., with honors, in Economics from Harvard University.
Nicholls also has an extensive background in the energy business. In addition to his tenure on the EN Engineering Board of Directors, he previously served as a board advisor for CLEAResult, a leader in implementing energy efficiency programs for utilities, and also owned by General Atlantic. He spent the majority of his career with Siemens Energy, where he served as Senior Vice President, Power Systems Sales, and managed a dispersed field sales organization responsible for all product lines of Energy businesses in the United States. In this role, he achieved tremendous growth and profitability for the company, while advocating for customer interests and communicating marketplace trends to internal organizations. Nicholls earned an M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh, where he graduated Cum Laude, and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
